This was definitely on the bucket list.
Snorkel the Great Barrier Reef. Check.
Swim with sea turtle. Check.
I won’t attempt narrative elegance here. Just, WOW… and Am I really here? Is this really my life? THIS is amazing!
The day was slightly overcast. It took some time to get used to the currents and make our way to the shallower pools of the reef. At that point the reef was various shades of brown, impressive if only for the sheer scale of it, but then the sun came out from behind the clouds and the entire sepia-toned underwater world burst into technicolor.
It’s days like this I love the most, days where I feel like one very very lucky person to be exactly where I am doing exactly what I’m doing.
Sadly, I hardly took pictures that day. I was too busy either staring around in complete delight in the water or onboard the boat sitting very very still to avoid seasickness. I’m hopelessly NOT a photographer. Most of these photos are from wikicommons. If you want to see more, try here.
But trust me. I was there. And it was very very worth it.
